After being stuck in Sydney for 24 hours I finally got on the plane to Los Angeles and eventually landed in Louisville on Monday night, one day later than planned. It all went really well though and me and Rob from work who travelled with me almost all the way made the most of the delay and spent the Sunday in the city.
It was so exciting to finally see the warehouse I have been working on for so long, and to meet all the people I have been emailing for many months. I am staying in a nice hotel near a big shopping centre, only 5 min drive from Ford's truck plant and our warehouse. It is a really beautiful area and since it is the start of the summer here, everything is very green.
When I started working on Tuesday the warehouse was completley empty but the last few days we have set up an office (see picture) and started installing some racking. Everyone here calls me "mam" and thinks that I have a "cute" accent. They can't really get their head around me being Swedish and living in Australia. Everyone we have met so far has been so nice and helpful which makes the work so much easier and the stay here much more fun and exciting!
Leaving Jakob was very hard and I miss the boys at home a lot, but I am making sure that I do everything I can to have a great time here and so far I am doing quite well. Work is taking up a lot of my time, but I have also been shopping, had a swim in the hotel swimming pool, had some really nice dinners etc. Tomorrow we have been invited to Churchill Downs to watch horse racing from a corporate box, and we also have tickets to baseball on Sunday.
Thanks everyone in Adelaide who is helping Adam to look after Jakob, and Adam: you are doing an amazing job!
